Guided tours

The Doñana National Park currently offers the visitor the possibility of enjoying three different routes: two land routes through the interior of the National Park in four-wheel drive vehicles; and a river route of Sanlúcar-Guadalquivir-Doñana. Although the National Park Administration is responsible for the control and monitoring of the tours, they are carried out by concessionary or authorised companies that provide the visitor with the experience, as well as the knowledge, of their specialised nature guides.

1- South route (Acebuche-La Plancha-Acebuche Route):

These are currently carried out under the licence by the Andalusian Cooperative Society, “Marismas del Rocío”.

Timetable:
Summer: 1st June to 15th September. Morning departure: 08:30. Afternoon departure: 17:00. Closed: Sunday.
Winter: 15th September to 1st June. Morning departure: 08:30. Afternoon departure: 15:00. Closed: Monday.
Other days closed during the year: 25th December, 1st to 6th January and Romería del Rocío.

The tour is carried out in four-wheel drive vehicles conditioned for the terrain and the characteristics of the route. It lasts approx. 4 hours and covers a distance of around 70km, through the most characteristic ecosystems of the Park. It is attended by the guide-driver assigned to each vehicle, pointing out the most interesting parts of the route and answering any questions the visitors may have.

There is the possibility to take a full-day tour (more than 7 hours), for which it is necessary to reserve and occupy all the seats in the vehicles. It is also possible to collect visitors at the Punta de Malandar, across from Sanlúcar de Barrameda, by previous arrangement.

It is recommended to make place reservations, as they are limited. There are reduced prices for educational groups during the educational terms. Information on timetables and rates can be obtained by calling the numbers indicated.

Timetable:
Summer: 1st of July to 19th of September. Morning departure: 09:00. Afternoon departure: 16:30.
Autumn-winter: 20th September to 30th April. Morning departure: 10:00. There is no afternoon departure.
Spring: 1st of May to 30th of June. Morning departure: 09:00. Afternoon departure: 16:00. Closed on Mondays, during all seasons. Other closed days: 25th December, 1st and 6th of January, Festival of Sanlúcar and Romería del Rocío.

The route is carried out on the ship, “Real Fernando”, which has a capacity of 94 passengers. It is a modern vessel that has the most advanced navigational technology. It is equipped with a video room with simultaneous translations, an exhibition room, bar on deck and air conditioning in the passenger room.

The duration of the route is around 4 hours, in which a distance of 13km is covered one way and as many kilometres back, through the last stretch of the Guadalquivir river.

Throughout the tour, the guides from the concessionary company will explain the most interesting features along the route.

It is necessary to reserve seats. There are various rates according to the type or size of the group. It is recommended to consult the prices by calling the reservation number.

3- North Route “Coto del Rey- C.V. José A. Valverde":

This route is currently carried out by 6 companies of administrative authorisation, allowing the visitor to ask for information and make previous reservations over the phone.
The tour is made in four-wheel drive vehicles that are conditioned for the environment and the characteristics of the route. The duration of the visit varies, covering two different ecosystems: the “cotos” and the marsh, until reaching the Visitor Centre, “José Antonio Valverde” in the middle of the marsh ecosystem. It is attended by a guide-driver, who points out the most interesting features along the route and answers any questions the visitors may have.
