VISITOR'S GUIDE
How to get to the Park
From Arrecife, via Yaiza:
Take the LZ-2 road as far as Yaiza, then follow the LZ-67 to the Montañas del Fuego and Tinajo. You will then see a road built from the same lava material of the region, with no horizontal road markings, to keep it in harmony with the countryside. By following the road from the Echadero de los Camellos, some 2.5 km away, you will find El Taro at the entrance to the Montañas del Fuego tourist site (Lanzarote Inter-Island Council). Continuing along the road towards Tinajo, now outside the limits of the National Park, you will arrive at the Mancha Blanca Visitors and Interpretation Centre, part of the National Park’s administration. Leave via Tinajo.
From Arrecife, via Tinajo:
take the LZ-20 road as far as Tinajo and then continue along the LZ-67 towards Mancha Blanca and Yaiza. This route first takes you to the Visitors Centre, an essential information point about all the natural aspects that characterise Timanfaya National Park. It will help you enjoy and fully understand the natural space that you are about to visit. You will find El Taro some 4.5 km away, along the LZ-67, at the entrance to the Montañas del Fuego, mentioned above.
From Puerto del Carmen: take the LZ-504 road as far as Tías and then continue along the LZ-2 to Yaiza. Then take the LZ-67 to the Timanfaya National Park.
From Costa Teguise:
the best way to reach the park is by the LZ-14 as far as the Arrecife ring road. Then at the first turn-off take the LZ-20 as far as Tinajo, and from there the LZ-67 to the Timanfaya National Park, where you should first visit the Mancha Blanca Visitors and Interpretation Centre.
At the entry points to the National Park, you will see posters with the famous “El Diablo” logo designed by César Manrique made from wood from scrapped boats.
As regards pedestrian access, you can only enter freely on the seaward side of the National Park along a path that runs along the shoreline.
